The mission of the La Vega High School counseling program is to provide high quality, comprehensive school counseling services with equal access to all students. Our programs are designed to help all students develop and enhance their academic, social, career, and personal strengths in order to become responsible and productive citizens for the 21st century. In partnership with other educators, parents/guardians, and the community, professional school counselors strive to ensure that all students at LVHS develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary to be successful in our changing society.
The vision of La Vega High School Counseling program is for all students to be college and/or career ready. Every student will acquire the academic, career and personal/social skills to reach their fullest educational potential and successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, competent and productive citizens who respect themselves and others.
Comprehensive School Counseling Program
A comprehensive school counseling program focuses on the needs of students to ensure that they can make the most of their educational experience. The program should address the key aspects, including academic achievement, career guidance and support for social and emotional challenges.
Role of the School Counselor
School counselors are an important part of the educational leadership team and provide valuable assistance to students. School counselors spend most of their time in direct service to and contact with students. School counselors' duties are focused on the overall delivery of the total program through guidance curriculum, individual student planning and responsive services. They also provide support services.
As one of the high school counselors, I advocate for a comprehensive, development guidance program while advocating for a safe schools and foster a nurturing school environment. I believe it is my responsibility to serve as advocate for all students while demonstrating my knowledge about La Vega ISD's resources and programs.
