Administration

James Villa, Principal

James Villa, Principal

I am honored to serve as the Principal of La Vega High School. As we move the campus towards being a flagship high school in Central Texas through programs like our ECHS and P-TECH, I am confident that there is something that every student will gravitate towards and benefit from on our campus. Prior to being an administrator at La Vega High School, I served as an Instructional Technology Specialist for La Vega ISD and taught secondary science courses for eight years.

I received my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis on instructional design and technology, from Tarleton State University in 2019. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2011. Prior to becoming an educator, I managed a local business and served in the United States Marine Corps. I have been happily married for 20 years, and my wife and I have been blessed with five daughters and three sons.

As an instructional leader, it is my belief that every child is capable of learning at high levels and deserves highly effective teachers and school leaders. My vision for La Vega High School is that each student that walks through our doors is developed intellectually, creatively, socially, and physically, in order to become confident and capable citizens that take pride in themselves and find purpose in serving the needs of their community, country, and world.

Jeanne Gravitt - Assistant Principal Early College HS

My name is Jeanne Gravitt and I am excited to be the Dean of Advanced Studies at La Vega ISD. With the vision of Dr. Sharon Shields, Superintendent, the support of Dr. Charla Rudd, Chief Academic Officer for Acceleration, and support from our School Board, we have established a sequence that will enable students in this program to obtain up to 60 tuition-free college hours  which can very realistically translate into an associates degree at the same time they receive their high school diplomas. In 2022, La Vega ECHS graduated the very first cohort. Seven of those students received their Associates Degree from MCC while others obtained many college hours that will transfer to their preferred college.

Our expectations are high for these students and they are continuing to work hard to reach those expectations. We are looking forward to a great year!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have concerning LVECHS.  You can email or call (254) 299-6820.

It is an honor and a privilege to work for the students and families of La Vega ISD.

With 23 years of experience, I've dedicated my career to education, serving as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and principal.

Throughout my career, I've not only imparted knowledge in the classroom but also mentored fellow educators. As an athletic director, I've instilled teamwork and discipline, guiding students both academically and athletically. My role as Principal allowed me to shape the overall educational environment, emphasizing a holistic approach to learning.

In my 6 years at La Vega ISD, I've been deeply involved in fostering a supportive educational ecosystem. Whether it's implementing innovative teaching methods, or ensuring a conducive learning atmosphere, my commitment to excellence remains unwavering. I believe in empowering students to reach their full potential and preparing them for a successful future.
